I am a first year PhD student in the department of Biomedical Engineering at Stony Brook University, New York. I am currently working on instrumentation development for a dynamic phantom for fMRI at Laboratory for Computational Neurodiagnostics. My areas of interest are MRI compatible instrumentation and precision medicine. I spent first 22 years of my life in India, most of which was in Delhi. I was fortunate enough to experience both home schooling and formal system of education. I love to play table tennis, cook food, read biographies and form live experiences. Next short term goal is to experience the scandinavian lifestyle and culture !

About Me

I am 23 and belong to the home of ancient Indus Valley Civilization - India. I am an engineer by education and experience. I did my undergraduate in Instrumentation and Control Engineering. I have worked for a short span in Oil and Gas EPC Industry and now have returned back to graduate school.

I completed my undergraduate degree with a university gold medal, few lifelong friendships and a job. The idea of staying in industry after college got defeated as I developed interest in exploring what I really want in life. Keep going down till you stop, pick your phone up and contact me !

Skills

These are few things I usually work on.

I have been programming extensively in LabVIEW for past 5 years. I have some experience with MakerBot 3D printers and recently I have started using FormLabs high resolution SLA 3D printer. I used SPI INTOOLS in past for preparation of Wiring Connection List, Loop Diagrams, Datasheets and Instrument Index.

I am currently a first year PhD student at Stony Brook University. I am fully funded by the department of Biomedical Engineering for my graduate studies. I am working on development of mri compatible instrumentation for a dynamic phantom at LCNeuro. I am also enrolled in coursework. This semester I am undertaking courses on engineering principles in cell biology, cell & molecular imaging and magnetic resonance.

I completed my undegraduate degree with majors in Instrumentation and minors in Control Systems. I was supported by a merit based technology scholarship for four years of undergraduate study. I undertook courses on mechanical and industrial instrumentation, embedded systems, microprocessors, control systems and programming.

Atul Govil is a first generation entrepreneur. We both worked together while building Ascension Inc. He is the first person from who whom I learnt the basics of business operations and management.
